Personal shoots have always taken the back burner in one way, shape or form for me since I started in this business nearly 8 years ago. I was blessed to start working immediately after I decided I was going to do this professionally. There was a ton to figure out and it seemed like it all needed to be done yesterday. I immediately started shooting with business in mind, fulfilling my clients needs and my needs as an artist were always met last. Thankfully, I squeezed in shots during each of my sessions and weddings for me, and I have those. Over the past year or so I have decided to shoot more for myself and really take time to move into the direction that my heart and my creative soul needs to move in. I’m talking entire sessions! Wooohooo. I’m sure some of my pro photographer friends can relate. Getting back to the basics.
This session is of my daughter Laila just before she began kindergarten last August. My friend Amy Salessi happened to be shooting on a school bus yard and invited me to play. I am so thankful for the relationships that I have built over the past few years within my industry. It has renewed my faith that there are some people that really do care and support others and want to see them win. Lord knows I’ve encountered just the opposite of this over the years.
As you will see at the end of the session she was super excited to play with the big red stop sign! (It’s the little things) Oh, and she brought her two favorite pairs of shoes.
This month for me is about catching up on blogging, showing my work that has been tucked in the vaults and pushing toward the future. I’m super excited about 2015 as many incredibly opportunities have already presented themselves and I’m so ready to act on them.

Just beautiful!! Love the playfulness of the ones where she is running or playing with the stop sign – and the close up of her standing with that serious look, oh my! Her eyes are just gorgeous!!
Sooooo cute Lo! I can not believe how much she’s grown since then. It’s great to have captured her in these beautiful images. So playful!
