Way back in October of last year I was invited by a friend to come play in Palm Springs. It just so happens that my friend is an amazing photographer who happened to be hosting an equally amazing workshop – Dream Beneath the Desert Sun. Olivia and I joined my friend Shannon Sewell & her daughter for a day of fun. The girls hung out and played and so did we! I had fun stepping into Shannon’s world and her process. Although I love love love helping my clients with clothing choices & I have played with subtle styled shoots in the past, I had never been involved in a shoot like this. We started the day off at the incredibly decorated modern home that Shannon and Krysta Metcalf (workshop co-host) rented. We shot in and around the home. The shoot was style by the ever so talented Heather Rome. Shannon told me I would love both of those ladies and surely I did! Here are some of my favorites from the shoot. Part two (Desert Session) is coming up….

All of my clients are special to me. This family and I have a very special bond as our babies were born on the same day and the same year! June 28th, 2009. When Deanna contacted me to photograph her first newborn, we were surprised to find out that we were both expecting at the same time. We knew there was a possibility that I would have already had my baby when hers arrived. We agreed that I would bring my baby along to the session in order for me to get the job done. I couldn’t say no to this as we would both be in the same “space” during the time of the session. The big difference was it was her first child and my third! I knew I would be alright! My dad was gracious enough to come along with me and my newborn Laila and play any type of damage control if needed. It actually went pretty smooth! This was 5 1/2 years ago. Needless to say we have remained close. I have photographed this little boy since he was born and now he awaits his new little brother in February. My Simone was born in Feb, so who knows we might have two children with the same birthdays! I can’t wait to meet and photograph the new baby!

Where do I begin…. I met Gyasmine when she was in high school. Young, ambitious and super enthusiastic about life. All these years later, nothing has changed. Gyasmine has been like a little sister to me since. She was on my short checklist of people that I couldn’t wait to see find that special person. In fact, we spoke about it a lot over the years and prayed together about it. When Gyasmine introduced me and my girls to Aaron, we instantly knew he was the one. He connected genuinely with us all and had a smile that matched hers! There is a light that Gyasmine carries that Aaron was able to compliment, which I had never seen from anyone she had dated. Needless to say, I am so happy that this day is almost here! This Friday, October 3, Gyasmine will marry the man of her dreams in front of all of her closest friends and family, the man that God made for her and I am soooooooooooooooo excited to witness it. Cheers & Blessings you to both…. although life gets busy and we are faced with obstacles on a daily, never hesitate to call on me…I am here for you whenever you need me!

I’m really excited to begin my blogging journey. This is my first “official” post, here we go…
I met this sweet family years ago. They are friends, clients and huge supporters of me and my business. Their mom Laurenne and I conceptualized this shoot together. I am not a fan of props during my sessions typically but every now again a nice subtle prop just adds a little something special to the session. And that was the case for this session. I am thrilled with how these images came out. About 2 years ago I added the “playdate” session to my business. Although every session with children for me is like a play date, the playdate session is a little different and takes a little more planning. Mom and I went back and forth via text and email with ideas for the session. We quickly settled on a theme and outfit changes…Then mom came with a car load of clothing and props and I selected my favorites and we went for there. (thanks for trusting me Laurenne)
Aside from the crazy heat and humidity, this shoot was AMAZING! The boys and I had a blast. I really look forward to working on more fun sessions like this, this fall.
Feel free to leave a comment, share this post, and show some love. Much appreciated!
Love and blessings,
PS. Thank you Gabby and Olivia for your help on this shoot! Your extra hands were essential!
